There are so many amazing things that I can only do during the winter season, like pulling out my favorite winter items from my DIY self-care box.

Having a self-care kit is so important, especially during the cold and sometimes isolating winter months. 

If you’re looking to create your own self-care kit but aren’t sure of things to put in there, I have a list of great ideas that will make creating your own DIY winter self-care box experience fun.

The key to creating the perfect winter self-care kit is putting things in the box that you like and will use to improve your mental health when you feel you are in a negative space.

What is a Self-Care Kit?

A self-care kit is a collection of miscellaneous items that can be used to uplift your spirit and boost your mood when you are having a bad day or feeling emotionally overwhelmed. The things you put in this box improve your mental health by promoting relaxation and mindfulness. This box can be used every day to comfort you and help ease stress or only when you are experiencing big feelings. 

So here it is; here are some ideas of what to include in your winter self-care box.

1) Chunky, Fleece, or Faux Fur Blanket:

Staying warm is an essential part of being comfortable during the winter, especially if you have been in and out all day. It can be extremely calming and relaxing to get under a comfortable blanket at the end of a long day.

2) 2-3 pairs of comfy or fuzzy socks (include a Christmas pair): Your feet are sometimes the coldest part of your body, keep those feet warm with a pair of comfortable socks.

3) Bathrobe: A robe provide extra much needed warmth whatever clothes you already have on.

5) A Journal:Unprocessed thoughts have a way of keep you up at night. Go through and process the happenings of your day by writing in a journal, you’ll be better for it.

6) Your favorite scented candle

7) Sensory toys (A stress ball, A fidget toy): If you have struggling with anxiety, ADHD, or feel the need to always be doing something, I highly recommend sensory toys.

8) Your favorite perfume or body spray

9) Your favorite lipstick or lip balm

10) Adult coloring books: If you are looking for an easy activity, coloring books are a great way to stay occupied during in climate winter weather. It’s also relaxing and really doesn’t take much effort.

12) Photograph of your favorite place or family: Seasonal depression or the winter blues is prevalent this time of year, having a picture of a family member or a favorite place is good way to get you out of that negative mindset that lingers around when you’re all cooped up inside.
