These next few items helped me to thrive as a breastfeeding mom. Because you’ll spend so much time nursing your baby, especially in the first three months of your baby’s life, you’ll need to get comfortable when nursing your baby, particularly during those long and tiring cluster-feeding days AND nights.

3 Breastfeeding Must Haves

1) A Rocking Chair or Glider

Where you sit when breastfeeding your baby is super important, which makes the chair you sit on the most important tool you will need when nursing your baby. If you are uncomfortable while nursing, not only will you be tired, but you will also be cranky. Avoid experiencing those negative emotions by finding yourself a good chair. And if your back is hurting and you are uncomfortable, you won’t want to sit down as long to nurse your baby. A good chair is especially useful if you have back problems as I do.

2) Boppy Nursing Pillow

Some might say that a nursing pillow isn’t necessary, but for me as a mom of three who didn’t use a nursing pillow with her first two kids, I’d say a nursing pillow is an absolute must accessory. I’d even go as far as saying that a nursing pillow is an item that I could not breastfeed without. Why is a nursing pillow a must have accessory for this mom? Well, as a mom with minor back problems, a nursing pillow really supports my back and makes holding my baby much more comfortable when sitting down. Some nursing pillows are multi-functional and can be used to prop up your baby as they get older.

3) Nursing Stool

Nursing with my foot flat on the floor is not ideal. A nursing footstool aids in relieving stress on my neck and back. If you are someone who plans to forego the glider route, having a nursing stool makes breastfeeding much more relaxed.

Having the right things when breastfeeding your baby can boost your confidence as a tired mom and help you to push through those long nights. I hope you find the things you need that will encourage you to continue breastfeeding your baby comfortably.
